The City of Port St. Lucie said it is inviting residents to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with Freedomfest, presented by Port St Lucie SC.

Freedomfest will be held from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, 9221 SE Event Center Place.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Max Weinberg is headlining the event. The post said attendees will choose the songs from a list of 200 classics, with local group Girlfriend Material starting the show. The city encouraged people to arrive early and bring “sing-along energy.”

The event will include a kids’ zone, a “History Hall of Faces” with life-size cutouts, food trucks, and a marketplace. The city also said there will be “tons of photo opps” and that attendees should wear red, white and blue.

At 9 p.m., the Luna Lites Drone Show will perform an aerial show, followed by fireworks from Zambelli Fireworks International. The post also said there will be a dedicated sensory room supported by the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County.

EDC names new marketing and communications manager

The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County said Maureen Saltzer will retire effective July 3. Wicker Perlis joined the EDC on June 22 as its marketing and communications manager.
