The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County (EDC) said Maureen Saltzer will retire effective July 3, after nearly 20 years of service to the organization.

Before Saltzer’s retirement, the EDC said Wicker Perlis joined the organization on June 22 as its marketing and communications manager.

The EDC said Perlis was the St. Lucie County watchdog reporter for Treasure Coast Newspapers from September 2023 through June 2026, covering the county’s growth, development and government. The post also said he previously covered state government for the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Mississippi, and for the Columbian Missourian.

St. Lucie County Fire District held a graduation ceremony for Recruit Class 26-1 with families, friends, instructors, and fellow firefighters. The district said the recruits completed training and are joining the fire service.
