The Port St. Lucie Police Department announced that the Police Athletic League Junior Police Academy cadets graduated after completing the 2026 program.

The department said the cadets spent the past two weeks taking on challenges, learning new skills, and building friendships. It said the program included physical activities, team-building exercises, and hands-on law enforcement experiences.

Officials said the cadets focused on lessons in leadership, accountability, respect, perseverance, and service, and that the program offered a firsthand look at dedication and teamwork involved in serving others.

In its statement, the department thanked parents and families for supporting the cadets, as well as PSLPD officers, professional staff, volunteers, and community partners for helping run the program. The department said it celebrated the cadets’ graduation and the successful completion of the 2026 Junior Police Academy on “Yesterday.”

“Congratulations, Cadets! We can’t wait to see where your future takes you,” the department said.

EDC names new marketing and communications manager

The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County said Maureen Saltzer will retire effective July 3. Wicker Perlis joined the EDC on June 22 as its marketing and communications manager.
