Hazardous weather conditions are anticipated as a hurricane approaches Florida, with significant preparations advised. The National Weather Service warns that preparations should be completed quickly, as conditions are expected to deteriorate by Wednesday.

The threat of flooding rainfall has notably increased, particularly along the I-4 corridor. A Hurricane Warning is currently in effect for Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties. Additionally, a Hurricane Watch has been issued for Martin County.

Residents should prepare for hurricane-force winds, including gusts, and the potential for tornadoes. Flash flooding is a serious concern, with predictions of 10 to 15 inches of rain in areas north of the storm's center.

Coastal areas, especially along Volusia and Brevard counties, should brace for battering surf, storm surge, and beach erosion.

EDC names new marketing and communications manager

The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County said Maureen Saltzer will retire effective July 3. Wicker Perlis joined the EDC on June 22 as its marketing and communications manager.

Natural Wellness Expo Announced at MIDFLORIDA Event Center

St. Lucie County Fire District held a graduation ceremony for Recruit Class 26-1 with families, friends, instructors, and fellow firefighters. The district said the recruits completed training and are joining the fire service.

MIDFLORIDA Event Center Hosts Juneteenth Celebration of Unity

The MIDFLORIDA Event Center in Port St. Lucie says it is open during regular business hours for Juneteenth. The center will host a Juneteenth Celebration of Unity event this evening from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Port St. Lucie offers Freedomfest VIP experience

Port St. Lucie is promoting a VIP Experience for its July 4 Freedomfest celebration. VIP tickets cost $75 for adults and $35 for children ages 3 to 12.
