Hurricane Milton Causes Solid Waste Collection Delay

Staff Report / PSLlocal.org

Hurricane Milton has caused a one-day delay in solid waste collection for residents in Port St. Lucie. The adjusted collection schedule is as follows:

- **Tuesday, Oct. 8**: Regular collection day

- **Wednesday, Oct. 9**: Regular collection day

- **Thursday, Oct. 10**: No service

- **Friday, Oct. 11**: Thursday's waste will be picked up

- **Saturday, Oct. 12**: Friday's waste will be picked up

- **Sunday, Oct. 13**: No service

- **Monday, Oct. 14**: Regular collection day

Additionally, the St. Lucie County landfill will be closed on Thursday. All garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste pickups will be suspended on that day for the safety of collection drivers and residents.

Residents are advised not to put out any trash, recycling, yard waste, or bulk waste on Thursday. The Convenient Drop-Off Center on Cameo Boulevard is also closed today and will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday to prepare for potential debris cleanup.

Residents are encouraged to refrain from trimming vegetation, starting construction projects, and placing debris curbside. They should also monitor the City’s website for further updates and delays in service.
