Port St. Lucie Police Department officials shared a tribute to K9 Bodhi and K9 Jaxson, saying the two dogs officially retired on Monday.

The post said Bodhi and Jaxson served the citizens of Port St. Lucie since 2018 and were involved in searches and tracking when they were needed. The department said they stood beside their handlers through long days, difficult nights, and moments that required courage.

Officials described the retirement walk as a moment the dogs were surrounded by both the department’s “blue family” and the family they go home to at night. The post said the dogs were honored for years of faithful service and received support from family members who share the profession and the time surrounding it.

The department said the day was meant to be a “thank you” rather than a goodbye, listing gratitude for track work, searches, and late-night duties, along with “loyalty, courage, and unconditional love.”

The post added that the dogs’ retirement marks the start of a new chapter and said, “This isn’t goodbye forever,” describing it as simply, “We’ll see you next time.” It also said the department will post Bodhi and Jaxson’s final 10-7 radio transmissions the following day.

EDC names new marketing and communications manager

The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County said Maureen Saltzer will retire effective July 3. Wicker Perlis joined the EDC on June 22 as its marketing and communications manager.
